As a successful coach in the NFL, many believed he took a huge step backwards by accepting the head coaching job in his home State of Hawaii. However, he quickly silenced his critics, turning the once dismal University of Hawaii Warrior football program into a serious contender in the Western Athletic Conference. With the excitement injected back into the Warriors, NFL scouts are coming far and wide to get a glimpse of some of the most talented players in the country.

On Feb 22, 2001, Jones was involved in a serious car accident that nearly took his life. Using that entire spring session to recover, Jones has since returned and is looking to continue his successful reign as the head coach of the Warriors. With a new contract under his belt - which takes him into the 2008 season - it appears as though June Jones is here to stay. The University of Hawaii, the Warrior program and the State of Hawaii are glad to have him.
