To Israeland his famaly, Over spring break my step father who is hawaiian took us to Hawaii. There I was exposed to the hawaiian culture and music. I got Israel's Cd "Facing Future" after hearing the song Maui Hawaiian Suppa Man on a helicopter tour. I like the album alot. Even though i am not hawaiian and did not know of him while he was alive, i think he was a great person, and really like his music.

I just heard Israel's voice for the first time today. It was his recording of Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World. I sat in awe of the power and delicacy of his voice and how he made these songs, so connected with the original artists, his own. I came on the Internet to find out more about this singer and was so saddened to see that he had passed away in 1997. I will try and find the album Facing Future so that I can have that track available to me.

On the eve of this millennium's passing.... Some things endure past time itself... Such is the collective love of this wonderful artist. Aloha keepers of the memories. I'm So glad to find this site. I was away when he died and cried so hard when I heard. Iz touched and inspired our lives deeply, richly. His olelo makes me chicken skin still and melts the pilikia of the day. Blessings of aloha to his ohana. It's hard to loose a loved one - especially when they are so awesome. Please know that his aloha is felt here, so far from Hawai'i nei, but so close in heart.

I only just discovered Izzy's music this past year, and am greatly saddend to discover that he has passed and will be making no more music for us folks who remain here. His voice suggests innocence, the sadness that comes from keeping one's eyes wide open, and an almost otherworldliness. The production values on Facing Future were remarkably good. I am sending Facing Future to freinds and loved ones, that they too might share and grow from his influence.

I heard this 30 second commercial on tv for e toys and I was moved to the point that I had to find out who it was. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the voice belonged to a 700 pound Hawaiian. I'm having a hard time writing this letter, because I'm weeping like a child. When I found out that this human being has past on, I couldn't believe that 30 seconds could move a person so much. The more I read, the harder it got. My wife had to finish typing this letter for me. And I'm quite embarassed, to say the least. This is the first time that I have written a fan letter to anyone. I really wish that I could have met him. Well, I'll be telling everyone about this cd. Because I'm usually joking and laughing, and they will find this very interesting that I have been so moved by another human being. Our hearts to out to you and your family. The Barry's

In early November, we visited Kaua'i for the first time. During a vist to Kapaa, we purchased the "Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau" CD--had no idea of the group's background or the content on the CD. What a wonderful choice we made! Often, we listen to the enchanting music and vocals, close our eyes, and we are back on Kaua'i.--made all the more meaningful now that we know "Bruddah IZ."

I was very sorry to learn a few minutes ago while searching the Search Engine for Iz. that he had passed away on June 26th. I had bought his albun Facing Future while visiting Hawaii a few years ago. His warm warm voice and songs has made it one of the best albums I own which I play quite often for myself and to my visiting friends. Living in Montreal,Canada, I have not been able so far able to find out if Izrael had made other albums. That was why I decided to search for some info on the web. His passing away so young really gave me a shock. I Hope in the future to puchase a few more albums. My deepest sympathy to all the familyé

Lynnette and I were lucky to have discovered Brudda IZ on our first trip to the islands together in June 1997. We are still very excited and moved by his voice. We thank God and the extended Kamakawiw'ole family for nurturing this wonderful human being. Thank you for hosting this site. Iz's music has nourished my love for the islands, my place of growing up, my heart home. I was gifted to see him in person at the Shell some years ago when he performed impromptu and continue to love his music both solo and with Makaha Sons, my all time favorite group. He was a treasure in the islands and sorely missed.

No matter what difficult circumstances life may throw my way, as long as I have my Iz cd's, my spirits are lifted by his magical voice and my troubles are forgotten for a while.
I am so happy every time I am surprised by Iz's voice in the E toys.com commercials.
He is always with us, isn't he, making our days a little brighter.
