In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole

Lately, the "In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole Guestbook" has been a difficult task to upkeep on a regular basis. As a result, e-Hawaii.com was generous enough to offer some space where the guestbook process is somewhat automated. I hope you enjoy the "new" look. My apologies for any inconvenience(s) this has caused.

Comments: Just discovered this page while doing an internet search. Bruddah Iz was great - his life left us all richer - richer - his death robbed us of his company and his music. I “discovered” him, years ago over “Rabbet’s” Internet Radio Hawaii Real Audio site.

Comments: Here I am, an Island girl now living near Lake Michigan. My sista sent me 2 of Bruddah Iz's CDs for my 40th birthday and I've been listening to "Facing Future" over and over again. I never saw Bruddah Iz perform in person but I feel like I know him from listening to the "Hawaii '78 introduction" (why is this song called 'Hawaii '78' ?). All of the songs are beautiful, especially the ones with the ukulele solos, but "Kaulana Kawaihae" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" give me chicken-skin the most. Even though I live here now, this will never be home. HOw can be when you was born and raised in Hawaii, yeah? Bruddah Iz is my connection home. He make me cry. And outside stay almost snowing. (This pidgin is "home talk". I no can talk like dis here. Ass why listening to Iz is like being home.)

Comments: I remember when Bruddah IZ and family were living in the same building as my parents, back in the days when I was just visiting from college and later from work in Los Angeles. I never knew the man personally, but he was always so warm - sharing the genuine aloha spirit. I was so happy to find his CD in Virginia, that I immediately bought it and shared it with my commrades in ministry that summer of 97. I was very saddened to hear of IZ's passing. My prayers are with the family members. And I know that IZ is with the Lord now. I shall always treasure the wonderful music that IZ shared with us all, which helps me through some cold nights in Princeton as I study late in the night, readying myself for the work of God. Thanks bruddah IZ for your wonderful music. God be with you, until we meet again... Aloha and Mahalo!
