In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole
Lately, the "In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole Guestbook" has been a difficult task to upkeep on a regular basis. As a result, e-Hawaii.com was generous enough to offer some space where the guestbook process is somewhat automated. I hope you enjoy the "new" look. My apologies for any inconvenience(s) this has caused.

| Comments: We are living on the Mainland until April, 99, then we will return to our beloved Hawaii, which we miss so very much. Iz has helped us return to the islands, if only in our hearts. He was a wonderful artist, with a beautiful soft and meaningful voice. We shall always miss him, even though we can keep a part of him here on earth through his recordings. May you be at peace, Bruddah Iz. Aloha.... | |

| Comments: I had the pleasure of living on the "Big Island" in 1997. I had not been exposed to all that is Bruddah IZ until his last performance in Hilo. He touched my family in a very special way that evening. To see the power and passion in him when he performed "In This Life"and the impact on everyone in the room, convinced me we were seeing something very special. That memory will always be with me. | Comments: I just discovered Iz's music yesterday listening to the radio in my car. It was drizzling rain and the dj played "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World". I was so moved by the beauty of Iz's voice and ukelele playing that I had to stop and just listen to the song. When the dj announced who this man was I steered myself to a cd store and bought whatever Iz cds they had. I was happy they had "Facing Future" which features the song I'd heard. What a gifted, sensitive and inspirational artist he was. I feel lucky to know his music. | |

| Comments: When I first move here, I didn't know much of Hawaii. I was born in Hawaii, then my parents moved on. From California then to Samoa. Now I'm here. Izrael' music thaught me a lot about what I had knew. I was raised Hawaiian style you can say and also the old samoan way aswell. His way to me seemed very traditional, hawaiian way. Past down from father to son. I listened to his music and know that his true feelings are that the same as many who find it hard to express.Yet, his love and music brings out the best in everything we know of today and always for ever and eternity. I wish I could have thanked him in the past. I as well as many others had the opportunity too when we went to all his concerts. Yet I didn't have the priveledge too, but would like to say "Thank you " with all the love and joy and blessings for his family. Whom in his music expressed all the love in the world. I loved a man who I didn't know but loved him as a brother who I knew in my heart and soul and through his music he will always live in me. Thank you again for letting me say these words. Aloha. | |

| Comments: It saddens us to learn of Iz's death. Although we never met him, while vacationing on Kauai at the Marriott we saw him in person at poolside. We were immediately impressed and touched by this huge man's tenderness and softness to his wife and family. We soon learned he was one of Hawaii's leading folk singers and this led us to purchase two of his albums (Facing Future and E Ala E). Two years later we are still listening and enjoying his music. Recently my wife, while shopping in New York City recognized another album of his and this prompted us to search the Web for it. This is how we learned of his death. We feel the world has lost a very fine artist and person and our sympathy is extended to his family and friends. | |

| Comments: I recently traveled to Hawai'i on a vacation. While there I fell in love with the islands as well as the music of a curious performer whose CD I continuously saw in various gift shops. I was overcome with great sadness to me to learn of his passing and I was upset that I would never have the opportunity to see him on stage. I realize that his music will live on forever in our hearts and memories. | |

| Comments: Aloha my name is Hokuao from da island of Maui. For the past couple of years I have really gotten in touch with my Hawaiian culture. Braddah Iz Music has really inspired me to Olelo Hawaiian. It is now my second year in da language and I feel so proud and good that I will be able to speak fluent soon. Braddah Iz could speak da language with such grace within his music that everytime I would listen I would just get shivers all over. His music went straight to my heart and I know that he sung from his heart. One thing that took my breath away was the fact that Braddah Iz accepted and respected every person whether they were Hawaiian or not. He had such a great love for da people of Hawai`i. His music was so positive. I believe that everyone should listen to Braddah Iz music because it touched me so deep and I know it would do the same for others. I am a sophmore in College in California and let me say that I get very homesick but all I have to do is turn on Braddah Iz CD and I feel so at home. He has gotten me through many tough times. I just want to say Mahalo nui loa Malamapono! Ahui hou!! Aloha, Hokuao | |

| Comments: I served as a missionary in the Islands for two years. I love the people of Hawai'i,and the aloha they gave to me. It's the music that takes me back to the Islands and the sweet memories I had there. The music of Isreal Kamakawiwaole is what takes me home to Hawai'i. I know he is singing now. | |
