I remember Israel when Makaha sons of niihau played at my Uncle Hanks Place i was only 12yrs old and i had to catch the bus from St.Louis HighSchool up to Hanks because my grandma was the cook Aunty Mina so i would have to drive her home and everytime Israel came early on Fridays and i would walk in and see this monsterous of a guy facing his back while you walk in the kitchen and 5 bowls all around him and in the kitchen you have aunty Bernie , Momi,Nahaku and Grandma (mina) preparing the food so i would kind of help around then Bradda, Moon, Mel,And Israel would start playing and it would be packed from inside and outside while growing up with them and being apart of there ohana its been a wonderful experience in dis life love and aloha Hanalei From Waimanalo P.S. theres more momories from Hanks Place with the Makaha sons of Niihau that i tell another time but keep it in my Heart

My son who is away at university sent me the song of Over the Rainbow by Israel. I used to sing that song all the time to my son when he was young. It gave me such pleasure to hear the song done by Israel. His version is beautiful. His music is living on past his death. I will play this song over and over. Just want to thank the great IZ, for hes contribution to the musical world, of which he is no more. But my daughter will soon be, and while we await here coming, we will introduce her to IZs calm and beautiful voice. I wish I could have met him when he was alive, so much karma and voice in one. IZ, you will be missed, but not forgotten. Youre voice and music will follow my daughter in her future. All the love from us in Denmark.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow is an amazingly beautiful song that always bring me to tears. I just watched a movie that played it and I got online to search the artist. I first heard Iz sing at the end of ER when (can't remember the Dr.s name)...was dying of brain cancer and he was laying in bed on a tropical island. Loved the song, and for years didn't know who did it. Searched the Internet and found Iz...very happy to find it You Tube!
