over that rainbow has been a deeply touching point of resonance for me. My best buddy got back from Iraq two weeks ago, out of out-processing two days ago, I ship in a week, oorah infantry.....the medley hurts in a rather inarticulately severe way, thus the lyrics, what a wonderful world, really suck for me, but I try to think to myself thus.

I always liked all types of music...mostly classic rock n roll, but his voice and music not only reaches to your heart it goes right into your soul. I first heard it at my daughter's graduation ceremony as the class was walking onto the stage...there's not enough words to describe how great of an artist and singer Isreal is. made the trip to maui,oahu and the big island in hilo..did the road to hana and all....i can not describe how i feel when i hear IZ sing..it has changed my out look on life and all..work etc...i will be retireing soon, from virginia, im 53 2 more years and i want so bad to go back and stay there....im part cherokee....feel hawaiian..lifes too short,you can tell people what you saw, felt and experienced while there and listen to IZ...but they will never know until they experience it! mahalo nui loa.mike

I have just discovered Israel, and am overwhelmed by his spirit. His love and concern for his native land comes over clear and strong.
I have always felt a connection to Hawaii,though never been previously. I find his music is both haunting and magical. It truly touches me and I can almost feel myself being swept away to beautiful Hawaii.
In his last track 15 Hawaii 78 he seems to tell the tragic tale of what Hawaii has become with outsiders who have taken over, yet he seems to still be able to find his Hawaii through all of the changes and if not peace then acceptance.
Please find comfort to know I live very far from Hawaii yet his words and music somehow found me and has brought beauty into my life. May 2006

After hearing Brother Iz songs on the Coast To Coast AM radio talk show, I bought every album I could find. I was so moved by his music.
Then, I was shocked to learn he had died. I couldnt stop crying it had been a long time since a singer had moved me as he did. He is very much missed here in my heart. I hope that our Father enjoys him as much as we do.

I heard Somewhere over the Rainbow What a Wonderful Life and just had to track down that fantastic voice. Have been listening to Facing Future everytime I get in the car and love every song. Sorry I will never have the chance to hear IZ perform in person. So glad he left a wonderful legacy of his talent, passion and love of Hawaii reflected in his timeless music.

I never heard of IZ until the CSI epsiode when I heard him sing Somewhere Over The Rainbow. I downloaded like thirty versions of the song before I found his. I have been listening to it non stop. It has quickly become my favorite song. When I made copies of the cd for my friends, they freaked when they heard the song, because they were looking for it themselves, they just did not know who sang it. I am sad to learn of IZs passing, but wherever I go in life, I am taking his music with me. I will make darn sure that he is never forgotten. I only wish I could have met him. Me meeting IZ would be like a lot of people, meeting Paul McCartney. But I just wanted to say thank you IZ for your beautiful voice and wonderful music. You truly were an incredible person. This site is a fantastic tribute to him. I am glad I found it.
