I had the honor and privlidge of knowing the big guy for a few years. He was always so full of love and laughter. Seldom in music or in my life have I ever run across anyone as fun-loving, kind, and humble as he was. I can't, or won't be able to, say enough good things about him, but one thing will always stay in my memory and it's a story I always tell whenever the subject of Bruddah Iz comes up. My mom was throwing a surprise birthday party for me, bringing together several local musicians for a night of "jamming". Iz was going to be there, as he had heard about it through an internet group we all belonged to called the "Wolfpack".. The night of the party, I get there and on the phone is Iz. He said he wanted to be there but he had to go in to the hospital for something, but he was calling to wish me a happy birthday. That was a huge deal to me, and I will never forget it. Iz, thanks for all the great memories, big man.. I'll see you someday.

i try to return to my hawaiian roots when i am feeling alone, and the first thing i do break out my fav Iz album, 'Alone in IZ world'. Even from my cold home on the mainland (OH), i can still feel the warm breeze coming off the beautiful pacific. Thanks IZ for making the cold weather feel warm again.

Hi, My name is Vern, I live in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. After watching the movie "50 First Dates" I first heard Iz's song 'Over the Rainbow'. I had no idea who the singer was, I had never heard of Iz before this. I searched the internet and found the song and the person who sang it. My wife and I have never been to Hawaii, but because of Iz's songs we feel like we actually knew this man with the voice of an angel. I only wish we had learned of this man earlier and we were both saddened to learn of his death. If we ever travel to your wonderful land we will be sure to visit Iz where his ashes were spread. Do you know this feeling that tells you that...everything is going to be alright..No matter what happens to you, no matter in which hard situation you are...This feeling comes over me when Im listening to Iz..Its his spirit that lives on in his songs, that keeps our hearts warm..And helps us to understand the cruel world we're living in better.
Im sitting here, listening to Iz and the tears are runing down my face, but I can smile..Also the sadness seems to take over..I'm not crying because out of sadness...Im crying out of happyness. Im crying besause After all the bad things that happend to me, I finally understand Iz...I understand his words.

It seems like yesterday that I first heard of the Passing of Bruddah Iz. Speaking in regards to this wonderful gentleman takes me back in time to his career and the many wonderful works he performed including one of my most favorite Collin Raye songs.. In Dis Life. ALthough I am a California Native, I followed everything that he did.. As a musician and vocalist myself...I have a deep respect and passion for what he has done. Un-fortunate for me to had discovered "IZ" in 2000 long after his passing, when visiting Waimanalo, Oahu. He has touched my life in such depth. Through his videos of his life and Music, with a voice like Honey! He taught us all the meaning of human, love, giving and Ohana and so much more! To had seen along the shores all the Hawaiian locals, out in the seas and roads filled to the beaches and the deep respect of love from all Islanders and the world. My hearts sails out to his Wife, daughter, All his family and friends!! IZ is in our lives here in Oregon in hopes of sharing back to the Hawaiians Isles someday!
