About a year ago I found IHR, Internet Hawaiian Radio. After listening for awhile I heard a specific voice repeatedly. I checked the playlist and found out it was Iz. I find it interesting that so many described his voice as angelic. My description to my wife and friends was that this guy sings like and angel. I was saddened like many that by the time I heard of him he was no longer recording in dis life. I was dissapointed to say the least. I, like others, need a daily fix of his music. It makes me feel so peaceful. I love him.

I never saw the film 'First 50 Dates', nor had I ever heard of Iz until about 5 minutes ago, but his version of Over The Rainbow is also being used on an advertisement on UK television. Each time I've heard it, I've thought how pure it sounds. I now find myself slightly tearful to find out that he is no longer here with us.

I think it must be my short-sightedness, but I cannot locate any mention of Iz's gorgeous Over The Rainbow/What a Wonderful World at the end-track of the soundtrack Meet Joe Black.
When I heard that, literally my spine had goosebumps. I thought, "Who IS that amazing singer?"
Now I find that the man has been gone from this earth for seven years, and I'm joining those in sadness for his loss, and that of his brother, too.
Is there anything you can tell me about how Iz's rendition was selected on Meet Joe Black? It's perfectly chosen for the placement on the soundtrack. Furthermore, it's a tribute to Iz that his song is placed lastly on a movie that deals sensitively about death -- Was Iz's song chosen after Iz's death or after his brother's? Regardless, it's probably the most beautiful version of the Garland/Armstrong songs I've ever heard.

First of all, to Marlene, Wehe, and all the family thank you for sharing so much of yourselves. I have managed to collect all the music and video's available. When asked what my enjoy most about Israel's music, I am without an answer. It all depends on the mood. He has given us music for all occasions. Over the Rainbow may have been the song that brought attention to him, but songs like E Ala E, Kaleohano, and Hawai'i 78, bring just as much emotion. We traveled to Hawaii from Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada) in February of 1992 as a Honeymoon trip. We walked into the first corner store and found a copy of "FACING FUTURE". We spent the entire 2 weeks listening to IZ; not only for his heavenly voice, but for his lyrics. He told a story of his life and his family which brought us into "his home". Whenever we hear his voice, it reminds us of our visit to his home. This is something we will cherish for a life time.

The first time I heard the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", it was in a movie and it was so pretty. Later, I watched a woman at my church perform a hula dance to the song and it was so moving. I am ashamed to say that I heard Bruddah IZ for the first time last night. A friend gave me the album "Alone in IZ World" last night. I have listened to it 20 times already. What a magical voice. We fell in love with Hawaii many years ago and found Iz through Makaha Sons and later his own music. The world lost a tremendously gifted and loving human being when he left too soon.
