I had heard IZ's song Over the Rainbow so many places ... I have just made my first trip to Hawaii and purchased one of his CD's to keep part of the island with me ... I was very sad to learn of IZ's passing ... but will always keep Hawaii in my heart with his music and beautiful voice. Heaven is blessed and we have lost a genle soul!

I recently heard Iz's version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow/ What A Wonderful World on a television show here in Australia and had to find out who sang it.After searching the net I discovered Iz and went out immediately to get my hands on some of his music.I bought "Facing Future" and could not believe how beautiful this mans voice and soul was, I was moved to tears especially by Hawai'i '78.It is just gorgeous.I hope one day I can travel to Hawai'i and see the land Iz sings so passionately about. I don't think there is a person on earth who has effected others the way Iz does; I have been reading these posts for a few years now and the same things keep coming up- the heartfelt awe at his voice and spirit, the passionate tracking down of his music after hearing him sing one song some place or other (that's how I got into this group), how we listen to his music over and over and over (I have worn out his CDs) and the personal grief when people find out that he is gone out of this world. All KINDS of people, old, young, city, suburban, country, from all over the world feel some wonder and special connection with him. He had something- HAS something that this mess of a world needs, and I hope that his aloha just keeps spreading out like one big rainbow over the entire earth. Thank you, Mahalo, Big Bruddah.

I dj weddings, parties etc... This summer I did a reception for a family friend and the theme they choose was islands theme. They supplied me with a few cds and one of those was IZ's "Facing Future". It blew me away, it moved me in a way that I had never experinced before and I had to know more about the man and his music. I was saddened to learn of his passing and deeply regret never having the chance to see him live and watch a true master at his craft. To the family of Bruddah Iz: Radio plays his version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow all the time here in Southern California in 540 am. Today, they played it back to back with Judy Garland's version. I am a haole from the Mainland who's been to the Islands many times, having good friends who live in Hana. Bruddah's memory lives on in his music. Just randomly found this web page on looking for information for "IZ" because my mom just recently discovered his beautiful song "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". She is usually a wicked tense and stressed out because of her job and her mother recently became sick. I haven't seen her so relaxed in years when she first heard that song. She has began to fall in love with IZ and its like a medicine for her, it is really incredible. I just wanted to thank IZ and it's a shame that we just found about her music. When I heard the song Over the Rainbow at the end of the movie Fity first dates I remeber telling my niece "I love that song, but I don't know who sings it". I was crying as I heard the song. I had no idea who the singer was but I thought that he had such a soothing voice and that his rendition of Over the rainbow was fantastic......About three weeks ago I went to Hawaii for the first time and discovered IZ. I was so happy that I had found the singer. My brother bought the CD and all I can say is that IZ has three new fans because my nephew also enjoys his music. Some of the other songs that are on the CD are sung in Hawaiin and I don't know what he is saying but it doesn't matter because I feel them in my heart. While driving back to our hotel I read the CD cover and found out that he had died and felt sad for not knowing about him and his great music while he was alive.

I am reading the e-mails left by other Iz fans and tears are streaming down my cheeks. They all say what felt about this Man and his music. I also discovered his music recently and have been mesmerized by his voice . I truly truly beleive this man sings from his heart. I never heard of this great musician until I watched the final episode of ER in the episode when Dr. Marc Greene died on Hawaii. The Haunting melodies of the Over the Rainbow continue to haunt my soul. I went searching for the artist and discovered all about the greatness of Iz. I have only recently been exposed to Bruddah Iz's music, but what an impact it has made on me. I have been researching everything I can about Iz. What a shame to lose someone who obviously had so much more to give. On one of the songs he says he was not afraid to die and that Hawaiian's live on both sides. I truly believe that as well. After we watched 50 First Dates, my girlfriend and i went on a 2 hour drive to go get Brudda IZ's cd. We ended up getting 2 of his other albums. But on our way back we start listening to the first one and my girl started reading the album cover. She just started crying and would not stop until we got home. Its so sad to lose such a beautiful voice like IZ voice. But he will always be with us everywhere we go and we will always love him and his music. What I miss most about IZ is his smile, his laugh,and mostly is that as much as he enjoyed performing, he also enjoyed life. Through a newspaper article revealing that Bruddah Iz's music is out-selling Britney Spears's on itunes, I accessed music by him over the web. I am deeply impressed. His voice has a richness that is very difficult to come by nowadays, seeing as we in a 'Pop Idol' phase. Perhaps we have never been out of the Pop Idol phase - who knows? Bruddah Iz's music is superb, and his voice almost seems to be a two-part harmony. I will earnestly seek out his music in shops the first opportunity I get. The UK is rapidly discovering him, and his death is a terrible loss to the music world. My condolences are with his family, friends, and fellow islanders.

To all of you like me who were stopped in your tracks the first time you heard IZ I extend my greetings. Like so many others when I watched 50 First Dates I came away thinking "I must find out who sang that beautiful medly". There is something more than talent there... Something incredibly compelling and magnetic. If any of you know... tell me what it is as no music has ever taken hold of me the way Iz's music did.

Heard his version og "Over the Rainbow" one early morning, on Norwegian radio, I was half sleeping, and then his voice filled my ears, my head my body. I just listen deeply to the song, And I thought it was beautiful. After the song, I just had to write down the name of the artist, And I did. I found this page on the internett, And I sadly saw that Israel was past away. Im going to order the albumes, just to keep his voice close. Rest in Peace. I saw something on tv about Israel Kamakawiwo'ole a while back (probably when he died) but hadn't heard his music at the time. My sister recently went to Hawaii and brought some of his music back with her. I fell in love with it. He has a soft beautiful voice that is really touching. A couple weeks later I saw '50 First Dates' and heard his version of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' in the movie. Seven years after his death and all of a sudden I keep encountering his music. It's sad that he's receiving such mainstream recognition only after his death. But I am glad that the rest of the world now knows what Hawaii has known for a long time: that Israel Kamakawiwo'ole is a great artist who in his short time on earth created music that will continue to touch people long after he's gone.

I discovered Over the Rainbow from the E-toys commercial and then on ER when DR Green died. I have since bought all of Iz's cds and it breaks my heart that he passed on before I knew who he was. When I am sad or stressed out, IZ's voice calms me down to my soul. What a beautiful person he was and to his family I'd like to say how lucky and blessed you were to have been loved by him. I hope someday in heaven, I can hear him in concert. God Bless.

Listening to Bruddah IZ makes me remember the two trips that I took to Kauai with my Grandmother. They were the best trips ever. I remember driving to the airport listening to "Over the Rainbow". It made me cry thinking about leaving such a beautiful place. Now everytime I listen to my IZ cd it makes me think of my grandmother how has passed. She loved Bruddah IZ, just as much as I do. I stumbled on to IZ's version of "White Sandy Beach" about 1 month ago (listening to it while I type).
IZ's soothing voice pulled my wife and I into a heavenly kind of tranquility upon playing this song for the first time (this continues every time we hear it). Before finding his pictures on the internet, both of us had a vision of a large Hawaiian "Bruddah". We were so pleased to find that he matched his beautiful voice.
I just found out, after searching down more of IZ's music, that he had passed on (so bummed).
To our "Bruddah", your love for music lives on, here on earth and I hope you'll be able to take a moment to play "White sandy beach" for my wife and I when our times come? I can't think of a warmer sound to be playing while I am re-united with my closest loved ones.
