I had heard his version of Rainbow/World years ago,and loved it,but never had a "moment" with it until this summer.A group of great friends on a house boat,beautiful weather, a gorgeous Northern Ontario lake,(Canada) and found that,with a moment,a sweet song, you can block out any negatives in the world, and just smile.I will never forget that "moment". I found the music of Izrael Kamakawiwo'ole just a year or so before he passed away. I am so sorry that the world lost such a beautiful person, but his voice lives on through his Cd's.My very favorite is his rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings. I was watching a television show tonight on the Discovery Channel, which had a beautiful rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World as backing music. I had to find out who sung it. I jumped on the web right after the show and discovered it was IZ. It is an amazing song by a beautiful man. RIP IZ. :)

well i have been listening to IZ since i can remembah and im happy that i have. when IZ went pass i was only small and neva really know much about him i jus knew da songs he played and sang. as i grew older watching his videos, performances, and listening to his music, das when i really went notice. now i am in music, i am playing and singing now. im in a band and i am living happy. if it wasnt for my parents and the influence of IZ's music i dunno where i would be. My family and I visited Hawaii for the first time in 2002.We were on the island of Oahu headed for Pearl Harbor.We were listening to a local radio station when they played IZ'S Somewhere Over The Rainbow.I then had to find out who sings that song.The next morining we had breakfast and I asked our waiter, He said oh thats "ISRAEL".My son and I went down and bought FACING THE FUTHER and listened to the entire CD I was awsome. I first became aware of Israel when I heard his rendition of Somewhere over the rainboe on the televions dram "E.R". I had just lost my son who died of an overdose. He couldn't kick the drug habit no matter how much we worked on it. Israel's rendition of that song gives it a totally new life and a completely different meaning. I can sit an listen to the passion Israel puts into that song over and over again. Every time I hear the song, it reminds me of my son and the dreams that I had of him travelling the roads of the future. God Bless Israel for giving that song to us in a way that we could still have our dreams even when most of them have been shattered.

I grew up hearing his songs and hearing stories of this wonderful man and even though i never met him...his death still bears alot of pain.
