In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole
Lately, the "In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole Guestbook" has been a difficult task to upkeep on a regular basis. As a result, e-Hawaii.com was generous enough to offer some space where the guestbook process is somewhat automated. I hope you enjoy the "new" look. My apologies for any inconvenience(s) this has caused.

I would like to give my deepest sympathy and blessing to the family of IZ. I just wanted to let his family and his spirit know that my boyfriend and I listen to Israel's CD almost everyday after work. The sound of his voice and music gives me a peace of mind and helps my boyfriend to relieve all of his stress. my boyfriend is currently in the military and will be leaving to Iraq soon and I would like to do something special for him. I would like to find out how I can buy an Israel t-shirt or memorable item other than his CD's or videos because we currently own all of them. It would be really make me happy if I could do something special and help to keep his name alive. mahalo and god bless, Nadine Makuakane

Aloha, and God bless you Iz. I was fortunate enough to live in Hawaii in Waianae from 1969 to 1972, and remember the beauty of that place. Your voice was so beautiful and your music lives on, as you do in our hearts.

I unfortunately discovered "IZ" after his passing but cannot remember when any music has touched my soul as his has (and I come from a generation that had Elvis, the Beatles and many other great performers) but not one of them compared to IZ - not just that angelic voice but his "mana" What a loss but luckily we have his CD and DVD ( I think I own all of his and those with the Makaha sons) Mahalo and a hui hau brother IZ

I am from Cleveland, Ohio. I heard Iz's music on amazon.com and fell in love with his beautiful voice and the songs he sings. I have never felt so touched by any music ever. Because of his music, my husband and I saved our hard earned dollars to visit Hawai'i this past February. I was so please to see Iz's music for sale everywhere we went. I am sorry I never got to meet him, but be certain that his music has brought aloha to my husband my hearts. Thank you Bruddah Iz. God keep you happy.

(Daniel again, my message was too long. I'll put another email adress while I'm there)
Jonathan Swift once wrote "whe have just enough religion to hate one another, and not enough to ove one another".
John Steinbeck wrote "singing and praying, well, it's one same thing" in the Grapes of Wrath.
just like Tom Joad, Iz will be there always.
in the way we look at birds playing over the ocean, in the way we hear a baby laughing, in the way we say "I love you" without saying.
I am grateful.

Well...
I see hearts blossoming here under the touch of one angel... pure light...
humans turned into angels by one of us.
ears turned into tears...
Izzy vs hard heavy vs light darkness vs Light
I too have ended up here through an already intense creation, Finding Forrester.
at the other end of this road is Facing Future.
and grief. I shed tears of grief before a sorry surprise...
but also, tears of Hope, tears of love. tears of Life.
Our ears will forever feel a soul made sound - the sheer, gentle wail of a human heart reconciled with God's Creation, beyond words, beyond frontiers. No need fo words.
this is pure human feeling. this is sacred stuff.
There is a singer that my heart and soul follow.
In a song he asks "and if God will send his angels... where do we go?"
Let us ask our ears.
~~~~~~
from Paris, France,
thank you.
be blessed, you all.
,o)
As day light falls on a new mornings day. And all the angels in heaven above are singing softly in the bitter sweetness of a new begining. The sound of the angels heard far and wide do not compare to Bruddah IZ, For God gave him a voice with more beauty then any angel could contain in thier soft angelic voices.
My partner and I of 6 years are currently contemplating a seperation. It is a very painful time for me and the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" has come my way during our troubles and hit me in a very emotional way, since it encapsulates our whole relationship. I am thankful for it though, forever it will hold a special place in my heart and no other version can do the same - It's Beautiful.
I really love all the songs from IZ. right now I noly have two cd's, but im hoping to get more!! It's cool, because i have family in hawaii. So, i go there every summer vacation. IZ is one of my favorite singers, and i'm so sorry to hear that he died. If he were to still live today, i'm sure he would have made alot more great hawaiian hits. I'm sure he still lives in all our hearts, and will forever. Aloha, Kaitlin
Somewhere over the rainbow .... I first heard it on E.R. and was touched by it. Then, i heard it again in a film (i guess it was Finding Forrester) but wasn't able to catch who performed it. I just saw 50 First Dates, heard it again, and sat thru the credits with my mother just to find the artist. I can honestly say this is the single most moving song i have ever heard. Thank you for sharing your gift with us Iz. I hope wherever you are you know how much you have touched us.
I would just like to say i cried when i heard, and it was just this weekend. I put my boys to sleep as a lullaby to iz, it was the most peaceful and calming sound that we heard in this life to listen to brother iz. My son is 12 years old now doin a report on louis armstrong...and I told him that brother iz(as known in our household) has passed away...i hope it is no offense that in 2004 we have just found out that someone that we listen to has passed. i want to say thank you...
I miss IZ alot. His wonderfully sweet and relaxing voice and the way he playfully interpreted his music from the sublime to the moving and passionate will never be forgotten. Although I am not Hawaiian (Italian-American) I appreciated his charming way of making me, a mainlander feel as though the islands are my home too!
IZ..wherever you are.....keep those heavenly melodies coming. Maybe we'll meet again in the hereafter.
Bro Iz was a big inspiration when I moved to the Hawaiin islands in 1995! I was only like7 but I remember his big heart and loving aloha spirit! He was a big influence on me and dancing hula and learning how to chant and sing in Hawaiian! Even thoug I was always the odd one out in Hula class because I was a white keiki I always felt the aloha when I danced and chanted! Even now 10 years later I am 17 and I love his Cd's and I love to dance to his music! My kumu in Washington said I have the Aloha and to never loose it no matter were I go and I have Bro. Iz to thank for that. My you alwayz be remembered and your music live on. I love you Iz. may everyone experience you like i did.......
Although I may have heard "Rainbow" when I saw Meet Joe Black, it affected the most when I heard it on a Washington D.C. Jazz station on Feb. 13th, 2003, four days after returning from a stay in Sea View/Kahena near Pahoa on Hilo side. I just saw 50 First Dates last night, and there he was again, and again Aloha flows from my tear ducts. I'm sorry to hear Iz died so young (my current age), and one year to the day before my son was born... I'll play "Facing Future" for him and see how he likes it... maybe he's got a new nickname coming. Mahalo nui loa, Iz, for da connection to Aloha. - Daniel
