WELEHU (Sagittarius)
Archer
November 23 - December 21
Sagittarius, WELEHU in Hawaiian
mythology is depicted by Pana Pua, the Archer, similar to the Archer in Greek mythology,
the mutable fiery sign of the Sage or Counselor. The bow and arrow was never used in
ancient Hawaiian warfare, only in sport.
Those born under the sign of WELEHU are
nature-loving and sport-loving people. WELEHU persons are most active in sports. It is
said the WELEHU temperament is influenced by the Akua Paani, God of Sports. A noble sport
of ancient Hawaiian Kings and Chiefs was Pana-iore, the shooting of rats with the bow and
arrow. However, the favorite sport of the WELEHU was surf riding. The sports-minded WELEHU
are also lovers of the great outdoors, becoming researchers in geological and difficult
explorations. Candid, and impulsive, restless yet generous, the WELEHU has an insatiable
curiosity. Although most characteristic of the WELEHU is their extraordinary power of
mental activity. True to their archer symbol, WELEHU persons aim well with remarkable
intuitive knowledge. Both sexes of WELEHU rarely allow themselves to be carried away by
their emotions. With integrity and good sportsmanship, WELEHUs can do just about anything
to which they might put their mind to. According to the Hawaiian Calendar, WELEHU is the
"Surfing Moon" month.
