In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole
Lately, the "In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole Guestbook" has been a difficult task to upkeep on a regular basis. As a result, e-Hawaii.com was generous enough to offer some space where the guestbook process is somewhat automated. I hope you enjoy the "new" look. My apologies for any inconvenience(s) this has caused.

| Comments: I am 60 years old so I have fresh memories of many nights and days of listening to the traditional music of Hawaii sung by those who went before me. Listening to the few CDs I have of IZ always bring tears to my eyes. I have lived in California for over thirty years now and the voice of IZ brings pain to my heart for I miss my home very much. Aloha, IZ. Although I don't completely agree with your stand on sovereignty, I will miss you very much . . .aloha and Mahalo | |

| Comments: Namaste...Aloha...Dear Heart, I grew up in Hawaii...underwater at Nanakuli, just south by the railroad tracks I snorkled three hours a day, from 1956 to 1960...paradise/heaven time on this earth. Now I am in Santa Barbara, California...and when I discovered "Israel Kamakawiwo'ole" I went into Ecstacy. He spoke to my heart, my spiritual roots, my physical "coming into this body time of this incarnation". When I heard he died, I felt my heart in agony crying out for his spirit, and my love and deepest prayers soared up towards his risen spirit. I can't really say what it did to me, but he is, is a part of my wife's and my life now. What more can I say. He takes me to a higher place of love. Oh yes, I felt to "Haole trip of being a seventh grader in Waipahu Catholic School in 1958-59. Yes, 4 Haoles and 76 "Locals" in one Seventh Grade class. Yes, I fought and won respect. But the year before, Clarence and Larry from Nanakuli (heavy set, black wavy hair, tall, thin sandy abond hair) and I and one other Haole I don't remember were one against the Barber's Ponit 6th graders--we had a purple Hawk's Head as our symbol, and we defeated them all...I wander in my later years on the "Mainland", but let me say that my heart has never left Hawaii, and Brother Iz has taken me back to those "Golden Years". If you, his wife or daughter get this message, "Thank you for loving him, being born to him and you, and just being their to love, honor and thank". Last thot (maybe), God Bless You...Thank You... | |

| Comments: I was introduced to the music of Iz on a recent trip to Hawaii. What a blessed voice he had. Even when he sings in Hawaiian, his words seem to touch me. Now I am discovering his music. Just imagine, Iz's music can attract new fans after he is gone. | |

| Comments: I grew up in Hawaii from 1965 till 1981. Lived on Kauai for 8 yrs and in Hilo for 8 yrs. Came back for the first time in 14 yrs in 1995, Hawaiian Supahman was a hot tune at that time. I saw bruddah Iz on TV doing an interview while I was there. He kind of symbolized the trip for me. Ended up buying a couple of his albums (CD's). I am shocked to hear now of his passing. Respectfully, kirbs | |

| Comments: i always liked hawiian music, but israel really brought out the true flavor of the islands, and was very convincing on what a simple true meaning of island life was.and, moreover, what the true meaning of a happy life was anywhere in the world.i miss his presence here on earth.i just know he's strumming his uke.and singing his songs on some sandy beach in paradise. | |

| Comments: I first heard Iz in 1994 and was so impressed with his island style. As a mainlander I'll never qualify as "Hawaiian" but I learned as a child of SFO in the '60's that we should all have the Aloha spirt so well spoken, and lived by Iz. Mahalo for your recorded words, now recorded for the ages. | |

I borrowed this CD from a friend and now I must find one somewhere for me. It has stirred some deep and wonderful emotions. Thanks Bruddah IZ -Bill & Kathy Jones Austin,Texas | |
