In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole
Lately, the "In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole Guestbook" has been a difficult task to upkeep on a regular basis. As a result, e-Hawaii.com was generous enough to offer some space where the guestbook process is somewhat automated. I hope you enjoy the "new" look. My apologies for any inconvenience(s) this has caused.

| My first and only exposure to Mr. Israel's music was while listening to an NPR story of his death in July, 1997. I thought his voice was the most beautiful I'd ever heard. What a tragedy his death brings for those who knew and loved him. Now I will search for his music, and perhaps, if I'm lucky draw close to his heart. | |

| I am a great fan of Bruddah Iz!!!! He lives on within all the hearts of the people of Hawaii; and he surely lives on within me. Here in college at Washington State College his music has given me great confidence. While writing papers for my english class, my topics have always been someway related to either the unjust history of my native Hawaiian ancestors or Hawaiian sovereignty; and I always listen to his music which makes me cry. His music, his words remind me that Hawaii and it's people are fragile; and if I a kanaka moali doesn't do anything about the suffering our `aina and people have been exposed to then our `aina will die and our people will become extinct. Thank you Bruddah Iz for your inspiration. You will be legend in my heart. A legend I will share with my children; music I will pass on to them. Memories of you will live on FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! much love and aloha to you, his family, and much, much more love and aloha to you, Bruddah Iz. Shayna Kitty Ka`imilani Ashley | |

| Even after the 4 1/2 months that have passed since the passing of Iz, I still on a daily basis think of how wonderfully he portrayed my love for Hawai'i. I think many of us have these feelings...and it just took this talented man to put into words what we all have felt. Mahalo nui loa, bruddah Iz. Thanks for the memories...and more than anything, mahalo for your music that will live forever within our hearts. I love you, bruddah. A hui hou ke malama pono. Alena | |

| Growing up here I didn't appreciate Hawaii as much as I did when I was forced to leave with the military. I came back 1 year before IZ died. His music, and finally being home was an inspiration to live and love Aloha. My wife (from Ohio) loved Israel's music, and that helped to open her up to everything from music to plate lunch. IZ...we miss you. | |

| Bruddah Iz brought special memories to Hawaiians everywhere. . .even us kanakas in South Carolina! He captured the essence of Hawaii, bringing back memories of "small kid time," underscoring contemporary issues, and even "facing future." Mahalo, Bruddah Iz, for keeping our culture alive, especially for those of us so far away. | |

| Bradda Isreal Kamakawiwole Was An Insperation To Everyone All Over The
World He Touched Peoples Hearts He Did Drugs But He Turend His Self Around And He Realized
That You Cant Live Forever So While Your Alive Might As Well Cherish It While You Can So
Thats What He Did. He Also Thought Kids To Not Be In Gangs Because When You Die Your
Family Will Suffer The Pain And Everytime He Would Visit Schools And Give Speeches His
Saying Would Be "Use Da Rag To Wipe You Hanabugars Not To Use It a Symbol In a
Gang".. We All Luv Bradda Iz IN LOVING MEMORY OF ISREAL KAMAKAWIWOOLE IZ WILL NEVER DIE HE STILL WILL BE IN ALL OUR HEARTS |
