In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole

Lately, the "In Loving Memory - Israel Kamakawiwo`ole Guestbook" has been a difficult task to upkeep on a regular basis. As a result, e-Hawaii.com was generous enough to offer some space where the guestbook process is somewhat automated. I hope you enjoy the "new" look. My apologies for any inconvenience(s) this has caused.

I was born and raised in Kailua, Oahu but now live in Rochester, New York where the winters are real cold. Listening to the music of bruddah'Iz always made me homesick but kept me close to my "roots." I was greatly saddend to hear of Iz's death and wish to express my sympathy to his family.

Bruddah IZ will always be remembered. For many of us who live in the mainland, through our own musical groups, I/we will continue spreading his music. As was stated by Iz, we are not to feel sad, his passing as with many of the isle musicians before him will be just another journey of life. Can you imagine the band members that he has now joined; Skippy, Alfred Apaka, Pops Pahinui, etc. What a jam session that would be. Anyway from all of us here in Juneau, Alaska, Aloha Bruddah IZ, we'll miss you, but we know we will see up there later....Kimo

...Never to have known him, to have first heard him sing on the radio just months after he left this world...what I have missed! I just returned from my first trip to Hawaii, where I was blessed by the music, the art, the people, and the land. Kauaii holds a piece of my heart now, but the music of IZ that I brought home with me will fill that spot.

Iz. . . what can I say, but that I will miss you very much. I was told in the "good book" that heaven is a beautiful place, and now you get to see the beauty, to be free, and "FLY WITH ANGLES." Please tell my brother "KIMO" that we miss him, watch over him until we all meet again in Heaven. Thank you for your music and songs, for it has truly inspired my life, and has made me as a "Hawaiian" to appreciate this paradise we call home. To Marlene and Wehe, God bless and know that we love you. "Iz. aloha wau ia 'oe, e ka Hawaiian Suppa Man!!!!"

Just wanted to let you know that Israel had fans in Michigan. I went to Hawaii in 4-96 and fell in love with his music. I now have most all of his albumns and will continue to collect them. He had a wonderful voice. He will be sadly missed. When I heard of his death in August, 1997 I felt that a part of me had suddenly died.
