somewhere over the rain bow sung by IZ have brougth my ex- husband and I back together. Now we are re-marrying and trying to make up for the wasted years spent hating each other. It is an uphill struggle however, it is one we are emabarking on as we know blue birds fly and dreams come true. deepely sadden to known that as soon as we have discovered his music he is no longer with us. My ex- husband heard his song thougth of me then went out and bought it as a token as he knew that it would be some thing that I would like and the result is the rest of the story.

Even if he never came to be so well known, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole would still have been a great man with a beautiful spirit. We are blessed, however, because his voice reached out so far, and so his spirit, and the spirit of his people, has touched us all. I visited Hawaii in Nov 2006 and saw IZ pictures everywhere. We had a Lauau party abd I bought one of his albums, Facing Future and fell in love his music. I discovered IZ from the movie, 50 First Dates. At the end of the movie came this wonderful voice. I had to find out who it was. Now I have his CDs playing constantly in my car and on my computer at work. His voice and music is so relaxing. I'm just sorry I didn't discover him while he was still alive. 2-2007 Just discovered Izrael's gift he left for me in the music of his album Facing Future. Then to discover from some Hawaiian kids from Mesa State in Grand Junction that he had died I too experienced a feeling of huge loss but am grateful for all the loved ones who have shared him with us. I first heard of Iz's song when I was in Japan on the J- wave lunch hour of Hawaiian songs. The song was about Konishiki, Mushashimaru, and Akebono. I fell in love with his music again when hearing a friends CD while in Florida. I am now in Hawaii exeriencing what inspired his great music. I sure wish I could have met him or even listened to his concert. My heart is with him and his family. I think it would be awesome if someone could sing the (Hawaiian '78 introduction) song about Bruddha Iz.

When I hear the soulfulness that comes out of Bruda IZ I am lifted up and my spirit soars. What a gift he was given and how lucky that we were allowed to experience it. When I found out that he had left us already I was saddened but I was also glad to know that we still have a way to stay connected with him through his music. The beauty is that people are still discovering his music and the love he left behind for us all when we hear him sing. The spirit of Bruda IZ will live on in our hearts even though we never had the opportunity to know him here. Now that is a testimony we should all aspire to leave behind. I have heard Israel's music at a recent funeral and an even more recent wedding. Everytime i hear his voice singing Somewhere over the rainbow i feel so relaxed and free. He had a truely angelic voice and i will always carry his tune in my head for as long as i walk this green earth. He may no longer be walking on this earth, but he will always be speaking to it.

I was looking for the lyrics to Somewhere over the rainbow, and found myself at this site.
From the moment I heard Isreals exquisitee voice, which defies discription. I felt a pure love for this beautiful soul. I plan on purchasing some of his recordings. In the meantime thank you for sharing him with the world.
