I had never heard of "Iz" before I saw 50 First Dates. When Over the Rainbow came on I fell in love with it immediately. While searching for it I came across the memory pages dedicated to him and was saddened to learn of his death so long ago. I haven't listened to him for long, and found out about him after his death, but I can say that his music touched me very deeply and I wish the best for his friends and family.

Discovered Israel during my first visit to Kauai'i in Sept 2004 and have been blessed to experience not only this amazing, virgin voice, so pure and beautiful but what a wonderful man he was (as I read the album jackets, his love for his homeland, Hawai'i and his family). His voice touches our hearts, we cannot listen to his albums without tears. Thank you for the opportunity to share what this beautiful man has become to mean to us. We love his music, his soul resonates through his voice/music. He has such a sweet spirit about him even now.

Thank you for your song and rendition of Somewhere over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World. My son (see website) passed away after a tragic accident. I heard "IZ" music on a visit to Hawaii and in movies and commercials and was reminded of it while attending a recent funeral of long time friend. My mother in law has been teaching my daughters about the culture, music and dance of the islands and started researching his life and music to share with them. I happened across Bruddah Iz's voice, as part of the soundtrack, to a funny and romantic, silly movie 50 First Dates. The movie had a touching ending, due mostly to the haunting, and beautiful sound of Iz' voice. Singing Somewhere over the Rainbow.
I went to the web to look him up, and was saddened to hear, he has gone on to the next adventure...I feel fortunate that I was able to hear of him, and learn of him.

Just recently I have heard Bruddan's rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow on radio station. It took several hours to locate who this man was on the internet, as the station did not give out that information.
I had never heard his rendition on this song until last month and I have to tell you...I was deeply touched upon just hearing it. It made me feel wonderful!!!
I was devesated to hear this man with this most touching voice was no longer with us on this earth. To me, his earthly presence is only that...earthly, his voice is heavenly.
To his family, I feel your lost. But may the memory of this man live on not only in your hearts and soul by the way he touched you, but to all that he has reached beyond an island in the pacific, who has the privilage of hearing his voice. I know that he has gone beyond the rainbow and has and will touched many for years to come. God Bless to you all!

His music has brought so much peace in my own life. As I'm sure it has others he has such a beautiful voice and I was saddened by his loss. I lived in Hawaii for 6yr before moving to the mainland and I miss the music, the people and most of all the warm sun. I just turned 30 and back in 2003 I had gastric bypass surgery. I almost died too and most probably without the surgery I would have. I spent 15 months away 3 of thos months were in the hospital. My weight @ my highest was 750lbs. I am now @ 498lbs. Israels music gives me the inspiration to continue and to know I am not alone. His music touched my life and for that I am greatful to still have that. Rest in Peace Israel. Your music and memory will live on forever in our hearts and minds. God Bles.

Aloha wau i'a oe. Today my honey and I watched the new special supporting the release of the new DVD about "da mans life." Chicken Skin. Isreal, is an inspiration to me. Everytime i hear his music, tears greet my cheeks, to know of his death pains me from within. Such a beautiful and powerful voice should never have reached an end.
