I moved here from the mainland and I have been inspired by Bruddah IZ's music. I have met many locals and I have visited many of the places that were depicted in his videos. The islands of Hawaii are a great treasure and deserve much respect that many take forgranted. I am deeply saddened by the loss and I wish that I could have experienced the magic of his music during my visit. God bless you Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and may you rest in peace.

Every time I hear that voice, I get shivers. At first I want to cry and then I am happy for the beauty that he creates. Each time I sing my son "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", my heart catches in my throat at the depth of feeling that Iz brought to the song. If there is a heaven, I know what we will hear when we get there.

I got lucky and found Bruddah Iz's CD featured at Borders Book and Music in 2002. When I heard it I was taken aback by the beauty of his voice and bought it immediately. I feel the haunting sound of his voice when he talks about his dad. I looked up this web site today because we are traveling in May to Maui and would of gone wherever he was performing in Hawaii while there. I was shocked and saddened to find out he had died. I'am sorry. I agree with his thoughts on all the changes the Hawaiian Islands have gone through. My prior visit to Maui the local paper had an article on building a multi lane road from the airport to Lahaina. My view is would change the environment in a negative way. I talked to a owner of a business in Maui who said if our governer wasn't half hawaiian he would of given it all away. I realize that a new governer has been elected and hopefully

My wife and I visited Hawaii last year and heard about the big hawaiian known as IZ, we bought one of his cd's on our last day in Oahu and now I own all five plus his two most recent videos. Iz's song "Over the Rainbow" was used at the end of the movie, "Finding Forrester" starring Sean Connery. I have also heard it by telephone when put on hold by the local Apple Computer store in Chandler, AZ. His album, "Facing Future" was sent to me a few months ago by my daughter, who lives in Kaluha, Oahu.
Iz has a beautiful, haunting voice that is most unique. This reminds me of another great voice that died young--Karen Carpenter.

I can't remember the first time I heard Bruddah IZ, but I do remember the feeling when I heard his Over the Rainbow medley. It returned when I heard it on a commercial for E- Toys...I cried everytime I saw it. Just saw Finding Forrester and found out who the man was behind the voice that moves me to tears everytime I hear it. I'm anxiously awaiting Facing the Future in the mail to hear more of his work and can't wait to find out more about him.

I'm from Aotearoa, New Zealand and like many others I discovered Iz' music after he passed away. I watched the movie "Race the Sun" (featuring Halle Berry) which was filmed in Hawai'i and heard a snippet of the song "Hawai'i 78" towards the end of the movie. I didn't know who was singing the song, but I noted on the credits that the singer was Iz. That song is definitely my favourite.

I love to keep coming here to read about how much other people love Iz,too. I am so glad that I have a chance to listen to his music and his messages, and will always be so sorry that I did not even know about him until he was gone.I still cry over him. I have just started listening to IZ's music and learning about him. For the past few days, I have been able to think of little else. I bought IZ in Concert when I was in Maui. Really enjoyed his music. His music comes from the heart and it is so real.

Recently found IZ and his music on a trip to Kauai in Dec. 02. I have fallen in love with this gentle giant. He will be missed by all who knew him - the world lost a lot when he passed.

I heard his music playing at Borders the other day and had to by it! I've been to Hawaii several time and feel a spiritual connection to the islands. I've been listening to the CD continually for 3 days now and it lifts me and at the same time brings me saddness and longing for Hawaii.
